Information about the 2nd Democritus Half Marathon

The running club of Xanthi, the ‘Xanthi Runners’, in cooperation with the Municipality of Xanthi and the Eastern Macedonia-Thrace District, organizes the 2^st Democritus Half Marathon.
The race is going to be held on Sunday 29^th November 2014 and start at 10:30 am.

Race length: 21,100 m. 

Starting point – Ending: Central square of Xanthi

Route Description: The central square, V. Konstantinou Str, V. Sofias Str, Evrou Str, Katsoni Str, the national road of Xanthi-Iasmos, Kimmeria, Pigadia, the national road of Komotini- Xanthi, the ring road of Xanthi, the national road of Kavala-Xanthi, 28^th October Str, the central square.

Kilometers Indications: All along the race entries per 1 km.

Stations with supplies at: 5^th, 10^th, 15^th, 18^th km and the finish

Timing: There will be electronic timing of the race as well as timing at the 10^th km.

Time Limit: 2.5 hours; after the end of the time limit the streets will open to traffic and the supplying stations will be closed. During the race, the police is going to regulate traffic and the Department of Samaritan Paramedics and Lifeguards of the Red Cross of Xanthi will be providing medical support.

Eligibility: Every person over 18 has the right to participate. All participants must take the necessary medical tests, be aware that they take part in the event on their own responsibility and also that the organizers will not be liable for whatever may happen during the race.

Participation Fee: 10 euro (includes electronic timing, a medal in memory of the race, a T-shirt, participation certificate, water, isotonic drinks, snacks, souvenirs)

Prizes – Awards:
The awards giving ceremony will take place in the Central square of Xanthi at 13:00.

Winners are nominated by three (3) first men and first three women overall.
     – In the first winners will be awarded cups.
     – In the first, second and third winners will be awarded medals and diplomas.
     – To all finishers will be given a commemorative medal and electronic certificate.
     – Award to populous team.
     – The first three winners of the general classification of men and women will not participate in the awards of age categories.
